The past few days we have had some muggy, humid, nasty weather. However, we have not gotten pounded with rain like some places have. Nevertheless, we have been inside for the past couple of days. I was excited when my neighbor gave me the idea to put up lots of paper and just let the kids finger paint. Well, I didn't have the paint (or the time to monitor finger painting) so we settled for some crayons. I was hoping this activity would entertain my kids while I finished washing the dishes, but it only got the attention of my sweet, miss Riley.

The Blank Slate

Sam colored for a little bit...

But Sam couldn't concentrate at all while Riley was very focused. (Sam got on her nerves pretty quick :)

Look at that left hand

And finally the finished product! (with a little help from me and Sam)

I have left it up because periodically she will walk by and pick up a crayon to add a little something extra and because I love to look at it. I love to watch her focus and get excited. She enjoys doing almost anything but she especially loves to color, cut, glue, etc. She went to class with me last week and has talked about it ever since. We even had to get her a little backpack because she kept taking all of my things out of mine so she could "go to school". Anyways, while she was in class she would scribble down "notes" every time the class would and at the end of class she took her pile of papers to the teacher. She said she needed to turn in her homework :) She continually amazes me by how aware, loving, and intentional she is about everything that she does. It is hard to believe how much she has grown and is still growing. I love my miss Riley and I love watching her learn and grow.
