I don't think I can express just how much I love the faculty/staff in the Education department here at LETU. They are all continually working towards bettering the students, as well as themselves, and looking at short term as well as long term goals. I say that to say, that I am SO excited to be a part of a new adventure in the education department. Many, including myself, have wanted to try and get childcare on campus and this is the very basic beginnings to the goal of one day making that a reality. The "volunteers" are coming from two different Education classes.
We have different "themes" each week. We have had three different labs and have about six more until we are done for the semester. I have already learned a lot and enjoy watching my children interact with the other kids as well. These are a few shots from the first two weeks. I forgot my camera from week 3- darn.
My little man is technically too young to attend. However, because I am facilitating each week, he comes with me. I have been so surprised at how well he has done. He loves to go each week.
We have a sensory table and the first week we had potatoes. The kids all LOVED washing the potatoes in the water and I had a bag full of the cleanest potatoes ever!!!
Riley LOVES playing with her friend Kolbie. They don't get to play together because we are so busy, so I am glad they get to see each other during the week.
This shot was just for me because I thought that Mrs. H. was so wise in how she set things up. Each kid had a wooden stick and a cup of icing, a small amount of sprinkles, a napkin, and a cupcake. They each loved decorating their own.
After going to "mommy's school" one day, we headed over to a friends house to play. I love when they have the opportunity to play with kids their age. I hope we can all get together again really soon!
I will hopefully be able to share each individual week from here on out in the Semester. I am learning a lot from not only the time itself, but how to set up and organize such an event. I hope my kids are learning a lot too. It does my heart good to hear my kids begging to go to "mommy's school". I remember going to school with my dad a few times when I was really little. I want them to see where Mommy and Daddy are all the time and know that we work so hard because we love them so much.
